Ricochet: Portrait

Ricochet: Portrait

written by: Vaishnavi Pusapati

I am at the same age as Plath
when she died,
and too much of that
makes sense.

From now on,
age can only hurt.
A whole lifetime
has missed me
like a trickshot.

Something in me is broken.
I can hear it rattle.
All the pieces are there,
but something is wrong—
as if even when fixed
I will only ever be
a mosaic version.
