Santa Eats Ice Cream

Santa Eats Ice Cream

written by: Sherry Healy

Recollecting yesterdays of youngsters singing
Tingle bells softly ringing

Leaning back toasting toes
Fire place, golden glows

My leather chair, soft and worn
I don’t worry, a coming storm

Dads shop at second hand stores
Moms craft reeves, outside doors

I am chilled, cold tonight
Cheeks are raw, I will be alright

My mind wonders on bouncing bows
Flasks of perfume, scented rose

Twinkles rise on the air so fair
The sky is twilight blue out there

Reindeer cuddle at fur trees now
Lemon moon shimmers, golden owl

Do I hear a crackle crunch
Frozen cream I yearn to munch

It’s Momma Claus my beloved bride
White sugar cream, my belly wide

Dance into the parlor room
Bowl antique, and brassy spoon

Ice cream, maple nuts on top
Two aged folks, slurp till stop

Resting now
We do allow

Hurried task, coming soon
Sleigh over silver moon

It’s a jolly bold Christmas season
Ruby red suit for a gosh darn reason

Dancing ponies in the streets
Chocolate candies thrown for treats

Games for joyous gals and boys
Through the chimney, make no noise

Glow of peaceful solitude
Soft wind my attitude

Go to bed dozy lad
There are presents to be had

Moms Dads slumber night
I promise, I will get it right

Close those drowsy eyes
Dream dream starry skies

On on frosty roof tops
In in slushy wet drops

Elves rushing ready
Forming fluffy cotton teddy

Classic myth this might be
Presents under furry tree

Silence
Finally

Tonight
