Soul of A Ghoul

Soul of A Ghoul

You can be whomsoever you desire.
A zombie, a monster or a superstar.
Just let the enemy within sleep late.

Women in Texas are dying.
The drought goes on. Gasping grass
peeps out from a cover of leaf fall.

Instant oatmeal for breakfast. Instant
karma forever. The dead have left us
their tears. My watch is broken.

I lose myself in your care. A bolt
of slow light caresses my knots.
A witch and a cowboy in cahoots.

Halloween’s done but terror strolls
in nightmare boots, in a ghoul’s soul.
