Nancy E. Campos
@NancyECampos1
- Where do you originate from?
I was born in Monterrey, Mexico. I was three years old when my parents migrated to the United States which I now call home.
- What do you cherish most about the place you call home?
Texas is a big state just like the hearts of its inhabitants. Although I have traveled throughout the United States, Texas will always be home. I am a mother of two beautiful daughters and grandmother of three amazing boys who call Texas home and family is where the heart is.
- What ignites your creativity?
What ignites my creativity are the conversations I have with my soul. When I am able to find peace and harmony within myself. When I am able to meditate and shut out all the exterior noise and truly listen without judgment or preconception. I have learned to see things for what they are in an unadulterated way. Simply as they are without reading more than it is and accepting the lesson in love and gratitude.
- Do you have a favorite word and could you incorporate it into a poetic phrase?
One of my favorite words is Survivor. Words of encouragement to speak out and take the power away from depression when it tries to take a hold of you.
Morbidly beautiful…
this is the clearest cry for help,
the saddest voice I’ve heard,
the reason you search to satisfy your soul,
embracing life, and not letting the darkness take a hold.
There are many who fight depression,
It is for those who at night can lay their head to rest,
There is a victory in overcoming a single day.
My friend stay strong for in your words I find your strength,
Because to write of such pain is to have the strength of a hundred men.
Your cry for help is beautiful. I stand with you. I am a survivor.
I learned to embrace the pain.
- What is your pet peeve?
Confines and limits are put on the expression of the soul and the heart. Bullying in any setting too many of our kids are causing harm to each other by speaking without understanding the consequences. We harm ourselves as a whole.
- How would you describe the essence of Nancy E. Campos?
I love writing. I believe that writing is a way for me to speak my truth and I find it easier to communicate my feelings and thoughts on paper. I have always had a hard time speaking because my thoughts come faster than my words and in the end I feel misunderstood. Writing allows me to express my feelings and thoughts. I love reading poetry and free writing. I am able to disconnect and get lost in the power of words. Meditations are a source of enlightenment and an awakening of my muse. Books that inspire me are those by Rumi and Ibn Arabi.
