Sunflowers

written by: D A Angelo

The sunflowers dancing to the Macarena don’t care about the crows glaring at them from the top of the school fence. They sway like palm trees, like lovers swooning in a Venetian love story. The sunflowers feed on canary-bright sunlight, the warm, tender rain of a new season. There is a lesson here: embrace everything wholly, no matter the state of your roots or when you’ve been planted.
