Sunrise

written by: Bonnie Currie

Stretching upwards, fingertips delicately pointing to the heavens, she danced. Ribbons of every colour were interwoven in her long golden hair.
Her body swayed and twirled, bare feet gripping the earth. Her face gaily painted, sparkling blue eyes shone out to observe the surroundings with awe, drinking in the atmosphere of the night and anticipation of the coming dawn.
Among the crowds, she danced to the drum beat reverberating through her bones. The subtle sound of a flute being played somewhere in the distance added to the surreal ambiance of the event.
Turning, she opened her arms wide to greet the sunrise on midsummer’s day.
