Tainted Love

Tainted Love

written by: Brittany Benko

I read the words within the page
Displaying tainted love
Engrossed was she from a young age
Of feeling adored and loved

Doing whatever she was told
Even though she knew her actions were not right
Her life was spinning out of control
Too wrapped up in her own delight

Her friends slowly slipped away
She didn’t understand why they left
Finding herself lonely during her days
Her happiness turned into sadness and left her depressed

The story did not end happily
Some books teach lesson for us to learn
Sometimes the people we love are toxic
And leave our hearts torn and burnt

She ended her life one summer day
All because of a man she dearly loved
He led her heart astray
And kept her from the people she needed most

Always follow your heart, but keep your head intact
What you want may not be what you need
This is a cruel fact
