Temple Boy

Temple Boy

written by: PR Hebert

The joy of finding a temple boy
sitting on the steps
hands quietly folded.
Reflecting, I’m sure,
on a Buddhist or Taoist phrase.

Saffron robe recently acquired
folded neatly beneath him.
How strange, in a land
of plenty and starvation.

He is satisfied
He is peaceful
He is pensive
He simply is
As the Buddha teaches.
