That Which is Hidden

We all have our secrets,
all hide those things
that would
leave us
exposed
otherwise
multiple fig leaves
clothes, veils, masks,
worn from choice,
from necessity,
from fashion
to cover those things
that need to be covered
according to society’s
time and place.
But not everything can be hidden
and that which remains open
may seem fully exposed
but some things
are still hidden
there.
Lynn White lives in north Wales. Her work is influenced by issues of social justice and events, places and people she has known or imagined. She is especially interested in exploring the boundaries of dream, fantasy and reality. She was shortlisted in the Theatre Cloud 'War Poetry for Today' competition and has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and a Rhysling Award.
