The Day Mother Died

The Day Mother Died

written by: Danny Barbare

Mother drapes her arm
across her face.
Opens her blue eyes
one last time
as if to say goodbye. I leave
the hospital. My
wife holding her hand
tells me to say I
love you in the phone.—
