The Heart

The Heart

written by: Glen Gales

In glow of twilight
Minutes trudge on past
The heart now settled but lonesome
Often weary but strong
Longing though content

Reflection, ponderance
One of so many
How must others feel?
Emotion seeps
From simple wounds
Wounds undetected
Beneath layer upon layer
Of feigned smiles

Yet in solitude
The heart hopes
Fleetingly
A genuine smile manifests
But alas
No one does receive its magic
For the heart is broken
And alone
