The Last

The Last

written by: Mel Andela

A quiet
That fills your ears,
Pads them with silence
And makes the world fade into
Nothing.

The goodbye
Is across the room,
The only thing between is
A pause we wish would stretch on
Forever.

A few short steps
Hurts more than a mile.
Almost familiar;
You

But you are not there.

A hand
That has held ours,
A face
That has held a lifetime
Of tears
Of frowns
Of smiles
Of hurt
Of love.

You;
But you are not there.
