The Outline

The Outline

written by: Simon Drake

The outline of a memory
Forms into a brand new shape
Mind, my moulding fingers
Until the new vision plays

The outline has always been clear
Now the image has been edited
Pain touched up with new paint
Eyes look over the new canvas

The outline has always been clear
The Canvas isn’t new
Just a cut and shut
Sold with misleading papers

The outline has always been clear
The frame unblemished for decades
Paint soaked deep into the canvas
Pain, deep in my mind and heart

The outline has always been clear
I know what you did
Knowing that I know, shames you
Take your masterpiece

The outline has always been clear
Too long, have I kept your artwork safe
It’s time to be publicly displayed
For all to see your handy work
