The Places Know Me

The Places Know Me

written by: Ishan Asija

Visiting the old places,
Where I used to be as a child
Which I stare at a bit more
When I feel them belonging to me
What I was and am is quite similar

The same boy, but not the places
They have grown old, they have new kids
These kids are not the kids we were as
the streets I played on, the schools I studied in
I am sure you are missing me

As it’s time to chase the dreams
And not to stay in the back
They don’t even stop me
As they know my stubbornness
Choosing tricky paths,

Which have medals at their end
But sacrifices in the middle
And people to oppose, stop you
Yet don’t have the power
Which can change my core

People think they can
The places know, I won’t
They know, I will move hopelessly
But with a belief in myself
Leaving my dream at the start
Which is the end,

Until I get it, I don’t want to see it
If I don’t get it, I don’t want to talk about it
