The Santa Collective

The Santa Collective

written by: Joseph Mannino

There lies at the heart of the season
A conspiracy of unsung giving
Conceived with the purest of reason
Mythology that makes life worth living

Derived from well intended deceit
Engineered to exploit our naivety
Quite an extraordinary conceit
That sows our seeds of creativity

Born from long forgotten ancient lore
And steeped in propensity to hope
The Santa Collective came before
This exaggerated modern day trope

Maligned for disingenuity
Cast aside for its self-serving intent
Fiction weaved in perpetuity
Led many a stray heart to discontent

That whatever reasons first beget
The need to construct this intricate tale
Legion of believers won’t forget
How a feeling of hope could still prevail

And although it seems quite silly now
Looking back on our childish perspective
There can be no more profound a vow
Than joining with the Santa Collective

So take up the mantle for this cause
Share it across all platforms far and wide
Indifferent to silent applause
Let our creativity be our guide

And while the cynics may cast aside
This idealism with all of its flaws
Let our hearts speak in place of our pride
As we each become our own Santa Claus
