The Third Body

The Third Body

written by: Lori Marchesin

First, a blinding light. Later, in swirls of hot wind,
closets, chairs, lamps, and the same ceiling flew
out of the window into the sky’s cobalt eyes.
They knelt and dug, thrust into the floor,
as if planting a new tree in the room. Then,
they climbed up the foliage, looked down
over the bed, descended, entered
their own bodies again, hands clasped.
