This Dignity is Mine

This Dignity is Mine

written by: John Bell

You aren’t just a rose that grew —
You cracked the concrete open.
Your roots are of the truth,
And your thorns are a warning:
You won’t be harmed again.
Now you will have nothing less
Than what you’ve earned — respect.

You stood through the storm,
As it tried to blow you away,
Thunder roaring where silence once reigned.
Where most would fall, you held face —
With relentless love, power, and grace.
They named your mercy weakness,
Your softness a flaw.
They tried to manipulate your mind,
But you stood through it all.

Bold. Unbreakable.
As though made of iron —
Forged in fire,
But not scorched by it.
You came out saying,
“This Dignity is mine.”

No gavel can hold the weight of your worth.
No verdict can speak the truth of your value.
No man can keep you as but a rat in a cage.
You write your own freedom
And take what is rightfully yours.

You rise — not once,
But endlessly.
Dignity crowned
In every forward step you take
