This is My England

This is My England

written by: Chloe Gilholy

My little space of tranquility has shaken
Beneath the earthquakes by corruption.
We are black and white, and everything in between.
This is my home. This is my England.
Saturday nights are always epic
Whether you’re out in the clubs
Or curled up to a take-away and the TV
This is my home. This is my England.
Friendships form and friendships break.
Some shatter and some fade away.
United and separated by radical loonies.
This is my home. This is my England.
We come together for the good and the bad.
We bake cakes and make tea to add a smile
On our neighbours faces.
This is my home. This is my England.
We have many cultures condensed into one place.
We build communities and become one family.
We shine together and celebrate achievements
This is my home. This is my England.
We’ve been invaded and we’ve been bullied.
We don’t let that stop us from enjoying life,
And enjoying life in our own way.
This is my home. This is my England.
