Thoughts are Things

Today
I watch flaming
thoughts—a bluebird’s green hops—
blue bluer than blood irises
that hang

above
live red roses
trapped in the fired sky maze—
a whale arcs the horizon
and leads

the way—
my fury’s fear
adjusts to new shadows—
flames—a monotonous sun melts
tonight
