Tracy Chapman’s Doppelgänger

Tracy Chapman’s Doppelgänger

written by: The Barefoot Cajun

I heard Tracy Chapman near the ocean today
Her doppelgänger in looks and singing style
She sat on the edge of an elevated cement block bordering the ocean
Her soulful voice brought me comfort

Her songs belting out with powerful message
Her reality grasp on timely circumstances ministered to my spirit
Lyrics giving hope to regular people
A voice that resonated to people hanging on by a thread

I heard many languages singing harmony with the Tracy Chapman double
It’s what happens in urban areas
The might of song that binds humanity as one
Yes, I uttered, sing it, Tracy

And then I saw the world differently
Noticing the mass of voices in different languages
The harmonized passion magnetically rolling waves to the shore
Tracy Chapman giving voice to listeners
