Dedicated to Fern Young

Drying my face today
I see my Grandmother
in the lines
running across my neck,
in the tiny flecks of yellow
forming in my eyes.

I remember those little yellow flecks
in my Grandmother’s old eyes
and the ridges
across her neck and chest.

I’m beginning to see them
form on me.

I see her.
