Uncle Pat

Uncle Pat

written by: Susan Glamuzina

It’s that time of the year
when I’m a crazy bat
Just like every Christmas
ticking of my list – stat!

I ran around all frantic
bread twisted into a plait
for those last minute gifts
I’m trained in combat

A long list of “to dos”
secret Santa for Nat
Christmas cake for my gran
Jane’s getting a sun hat

nothing ever pleases Dad
my wee angel’s now a brat
functions have her shattered
and off to the vet, for our cat

presents separated in piles
A rushed visit to Santa’s lap
family – I’m expected to visit them all
Christmas traffic followed by rushed chat

I’ve got a secret plan
this year I won’t do that
they can all come to me
I’ve kidnapped Uncle Pat
