While the Rain Remembers

While the Rain Remembers

written by: Anu Shrestha

It was raining—lightly, softly,
as if the sky knew how gently I needed to feel.

I raised my face to it,
let the drops touch me like his lips once did—
cool, soft, unforgettable.

I didn’t want to dry.
I wanted to stay soaked in everything we were.

I dreamt of rivers then—
of running into them,
letting their current carry me
to the silence we once shared.

Not to drown,
but to feel the crash, the weightless rush—
the way falling in love felt with him.

And sometimes, I see myself
leaping from the edge of a high place,
falling through clouds like I fell for him—
not to hit the ground,
but to feel that perfect silence
before the world returns.

I wish I could stop time—
to hold his hand,
to get lost again in those eyes
that once held me whole.

To taste the kiss
that still lingers in my breath.

I don’t want to move ahead.
Not yet.
Not while the rain still remembers us.
