NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:

Illustration description: A mirrored pencil sketch, augmented so traces of colour show amid the grey scratchiness. The sketch is a group of motley characters: A tall, slim daisy with limbs and a large eye. A long-beaked bird in an exaggerated tophat. A centipede-like zebra with many legs. A butterfly with a geometric pattern of stipes, almost resembling the spines of books on shelves. A long, many-legged lizard, back legs petering off, unfinished, balancing a mushroom on its back with ballerina legs for a stem. Centermost, between the mirrored images, sits the haiku in black Times New Roman font.
