Yellowstone Apocalypse

We sit our stories on the lips of gods (C₆H₁₂O₆ + O₂ → CO₂ + H₂O + divine inspiration),
with lipstick hues that bled into the night (Fe₂O₃ + light → passion),
even as the earth concealed its darkness (C + O₂ → CO₂ + shadows),
we saw stars tracing the shattered palms of gods (H₂ + O → H₂O + celestial beauty).
Of gods we pray to for salvation (2H₂ + O₂ → 2H₂O + hope),
I saw the devil’s face in the eyes of a boy holding a gun (Pb + explosive → destruction),
a girl housing a scar at the left eyebrow of her face (C₆H₁₂O₆ + trauma → emotional pain),
slavery has chewed these children to oblivion (CH₄ + despair → darkness).
And every fourth dawn, we surrender our bodies to the gods (CaCO₃ + devotion → spiritual growth),
bearing skin scarred by bombs and bullets (Fe + explosive → shrapnel),
here, boys walk on fire (CH₄ + O₂ → CO₂ + H₂O + courage),
foreheads anointed with salvation’s kiss (H₂O + love → healing).
Girls glide on water (H₂O + grace → serenity),
palms soft with grief (C₆H₁₂O₆ + sorrow → compassion),
in funerals, we find beauty:
i. girls dissolve into water (H₂O + tears → purification),
ii. boys blaze like fire (CH₄ + O₂ → CO₂ + H₂O + transformation).
This is how we sense the scent of lost love (C₁₀H₁₆O + nostalgia → longing),
a fragrance that returns every fortnight (CH₃CH₂OH + memory → melancholy),
a graveyard of memories (R-OH + sorrow → reminiscence).
