You’re Gone

You’re Gone

written by: Linda M. Crate

i keep seeking you in
other emotionally unavailable
people,

i remember once we were
thick as thieves;

sunshine shone bright
and the promise of tomorrow
seemed so vibrant that i couldn’t
picture a world where you & i
weren’t friends—

then all of a sudden there
was nothing,
there were no phone calls
or letters or emails or happy
birthdays on social media;

suddenly we were nothing—

i think i’m done searching for you,
for i have finally realized you are gone
and you’re not coming back;

no matter how hard i wish you would
or could.
