For some reason,
whim, spiritual hunger,
the owner of this coffeehouse
play’s Handel’s ‘Messiah’
on the shop stereo —
‘Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!’
this cool May afternoon,
frost warning posted by the
friendly weatherwoman on the TV
cover your pansies and zinnias
tonight.
