Mum

Mum

written by: Simon Drake

From here in heaven I see you
The woman that you have become
I wish that you could hear my voice
I am so proud to be your son
I know how much you have missed me
I hear every word you say
I know how much you love me Mum
I kneel beside you when you pray
My love for you is limitless
Infinite, until the end of time
Mum you will always be my everything
You’re so loving and so very kind
I am bursting with pride as I watch you
There is no limit to what you can achieve
A qualified counsellor, what a journey
When you doubted I always believed
You have such a way about you
Although we are now worlds apart
Words cannot describe how proud I am
For all eternity you will always have my heart
Such strength, you are truly amazing
Just once, I wish you could see
What you have accomplished is extraordinary
What will be, will always be
Heartbreak has been two heavy buckets
That you have carried, grieving for me
Now close your eyes Mum and picture
Pouring them both into the sea
The time to be sad is now over
Mum this is my birthday wish
When you next feel the wind on your cheek
It’s me sending you a son’s loving kiss
I want you to enjoy your life
I am with you every step of the way
I want you to be at peace and happy
Fulfill my wish on my birthday
