Thrown Away

Thrown Away

written by: Simon Drake

I have had my heart broken and dreams shattered
I have wished I was no longer here
To have my feelings trampled on,
With no care for the impact on me
I meant nothing and now that is so clear
Why did you play with my feelings
Use me then throw me away
To be discarded with no thought of the consequences
That scar you left still stings me today
I was left to pick up the pieces
The devastation I faced on my own
It is just bricks and mortar I live in now
This place is no longer a home
I never listened to my gut feelings
I broke an unwritten rule
The alarm bells were ringing loud and clear
In my reflection I see the tears of a fool
So many years have passed now
My heart feels like it still needs to mend
I know I deserve it, but life doesn’t work like that
So, I wonder will I ever love and be loved again.
