Folded Wings

Folded Wings

written by: Bipul Banerjee

With folded wings, I sit in timidity
In a cage with an open gate
Cursing my fate and
Waiting to be rescued
My wings have never known a flight
For they have been conditioned to rest
In a self-imposed prison
Yes, a self-imposed prison that has open gates
With closed eyes
Awaiting dawn on a brightly lit day
Wondering how long this darkness shall last
Having overgrown the cage
It is difficult to ‘fit-in’
However, I ‘adjust’ to the discomfort and
Heroically refuse to budge
It has always been done this way
It shall be continued in this way too
For someone else is responsible for my state
For someone else shall come to rescue
Till then only what I can do
Is fold my wings and just pray, in between the curses
For someday, someone shall pity me
Nudge me, to break free??
