Shadow in The Wind

Shadow in The Wind

written by: Julia Townson

Listen closely, my friend, and you will hear
the rippling of his mane in the wind.
As he gallops into the night,
like the shadow of a midnight cloud.
Watch as he dances with the wildflowers,
swaying to and fro in the breeze.
Leaping and twirling with powerful, elegant grace,
to the gentle, melodic tune of the songbirds
singing in the trees.
The sound of his thundering hooves beat the ground beneath him.
His ebony coat, deep and luxurious,
velvety like the night sky,
shimmers softly in the moonlight.
Weep with me, my friend.
As the wind once feisty and strong
grows feeble and tired,
its powerful gusts becoming a mere whisper.
And he lays there breathing his last breath.
His spirit one with the dying breeze.
