My Affliction

My Affliction

written by: Don Knowles

My affliction
Words needing escape
They’ve forced a fissure
Pounding against memory cells
Ricocheting for relief
A Primal pulse of presence
Until the fingers set them free
Upon a paperless page
Outside to float like filagree
Like refugees
Seeking a new life to host them
Settling in the minds of others
Where they root new synapses
To connect the dots
To our collective sameness
