Just Around Midnight

Just Around Midnight

written by: Ken Gosse

Paws
pause
upon
their rooftop.
On hearing them stop,
parents prepare for early dawn
and with a large yawn, watching snow fall from roof to lawn,
a mom and dad, very glad, without a peep, soon drift off to sleep with dreams very deep
of Christmases past, cherishing memories that last,
which they hope to share with great care
with children now there—
but first, they
pause and
thank
Claus.
