Heroin & Whiskey

Are equally a beautiful poison that will consume you without question.
As one leaves its mark upon the outer shell.
Track marks into the ditch as the fire burns rotting somewhere deep within.
Postcards and old friends are best kept at a safe distance.
As that memory is but an image that can never reflect the demons within.
Sometimes it’s best to write off the host and love the delusion instead.
Leave me alone; I have plenty of vices to keep me warm until I am inevitably forever cold.
