A New Day

A New Day

written by: Brittany Benko

It’s a new day
The sun has started to rise
Brightening the countryside before my very eyes
It’s a new day
Birds begin to sing
It may still be winter,
But in the South it feels like spring
It’s a new day
I can forget about the past and start anew
There are so many tasks I am yearning to do
It’s a new day
I thank the universe for my health
I have all that I need
I don’t need riches and wealth
It’s a new day
I may try something bold
Like reading aloud poetry at the park in the cold
It’s a new day
I’ll find beauty wherever I go
Some people have it worse than I,
So I’ll forever be grateful and go with the flow
