Phases of Me

Phases of Me

written by: Heidi MacCulloch

I like to think
I have a string
A lifeline of sorts
Tied to all the versions of me
I hope they’re resting well
Deep in the shadows I can no longer see
Taking their time
Being happy
Away from personal glares
Of judgement and repression
I linger there
Essences of me
Some days dying here
Trying to remember me
Will each layer turn to energy
Detaching from me
A story written
A story rotten
Squinting I can barely see
Is that me shining
Through memories
