The Pause in The Life Journey

Going no-where,
trapped.
Like a ship in a bottle.
My heart is restricted,
no movement is forthcoming.
Crystallizing grains of the sand
sink, marking time.
Taunting tides,
run towards me,
walking back, laughing.
Breathing in stale,
pungent air.
In my somber setting,
suffocating.
On the horizon,
white clouds dance,
flirting enticingly,
stirring desire.
Everyone should have three careers in life; one for fun, one serious and the one that you were meant to do, the one that feeds your soul. I am lucky that my fun and serious careers have given me the gift of a lifetime's worth of enriched material for the pleasure of writing. So here I am in rural Portugal, living my best life with my beautiful Husband and my bouncy, brindle boxer Bert.
