Rain

Rain

written by: Timothy A. Agnew

lost in the rain
somehow
we tumbled into a
humid moment of yesterdays
and we let the rain
persuade our tomorrows
into running
when the drops first began
afraid to get our skin
pierced with tranquility
we abandoned nothing but our breath
heaving out of cavities
that yearn to fill with love
it rains
finally
quenching a pang
of a growing drought
in the mind
where a tongue
searches
for fragrant skin
in pores
that
grew thirsty
for a taste
of your subterfuge
your want
and need
and nonsense
of spent days
relishing
nothing
but
the delicacies
of nothingness
where self
berates
self
we thought the crystal
sands
would soothe
lost souls
we walked a beach
forever, it seemed
floating words
of passing strangers
of birds
singing
to the fish
the whispering current
always seeking
spilling secrets
that
no one will tell
