She

She

written by: Phyllis Souza

In the middle of the night,
the moon disappears from the sky.
There are no clouds or stars.
Like a Zombie on Xanax, she walks.
Owls hoot, dogs howl, and cats hiss.
Walking. Walking. Walking.
She reaches a bridge.
Suddenly,
she jumps.
Spirals down into the abyss.
Meets a handsome fish,
and makes a wish.
She transforms into
a beautiful mermaid.
Swimming. Swimming. Swimming.
She reaches the surface of the water,
and gives thanks to the morning sun.
