Nostalgia

Memories from an ancient time!
Those days of Calcutta winters
Maa confined to the hospital bed
When the city plunged in picnic
And the aroma of jaggery sweets
Suffused the nippy air!

She oddly missed mango pickles!
Looking outside the window of her
Mother’s cabin
As the huge ships at Khidirpur dock
Sounded their horns;
And the vermilion sun spilled its
Departing charm over the Ganges:
That’s a story from a different time!
