But, The Light

But, The Light

written by: Luisa Kay Reyes

Push everyone out of the way
To get ahead, is what they say
But Christ was born on Christmas Day
To show us that He is The Way.

Put yourself first and do not care
People will tear you down, if they dare
But Christ was born of Mary, his mother
To show us to love one another.

There really is no such thing as right and wrong
It is, as they say, all relative, anyway
But, Jesus was born on Christmas Day
To show us God’s word leads us not astray.

A little white lie they say is fine
As long as you move up and sip wine
But on Christmas, Dear Jesus, was born
To show us The Truth not to scorn.

They say just fake it until you make it
Just demand what you want and take it
But God’s gift on Christmas was born in a stall
To show us it is blessed to give to all.

They say to keep a stiff upper lip
For the trials of life to equip
But on Christmas such hardness does cease
As, it is in Jesus, we may now find peace.

To get what you want out of life
If need be, they say, cause trouble and strife
But, The Light arrived on Christmas Day
To show us eternal life through Him is The Way.
