There is a lovely family
Sitting by the curbside
Sipping coffee and chattering of lovely things
The three daughters
Tall and blonde
Scarecrows
Like their mother
Pretty
Like their mother
She smiles when she looks at them and talks of their futures
The one son
Youngest son
Dark raven hair
Looks nothing like his mother
His father’s eyes
Someone else’s hair
And the mother barely looks at him
When she does, she smiles
Politely
And calls him handsome
A little piece of her dies inside when she does
The father
Views the horizon
In stoic silence
Mind
Maybe heart
Elsewhere
While they sit and talk of lovely things
Evan Raiff is an author, poet, actor, and storyteller currently based in Los Angeles. He has always had a fascination with the human language, both spoken and unspoken. His upbringing in Massachusetts would allow him to further stoke this artistic flame. An inquisitive soul who was always eager to test his own storytelling through any method, he engaged in community theater and creative writing. His journey would lead him to Los Angeles, in pursuit of a career in the entertainment industry. He has since refocused himself on his writings and art to share his love of language and storytelling with the world.
