Just One More

Just One More

written by: Leigh Cuthbert

I drink to be social.
I’m a happy drunk—
life of the party.

Maybe one to relax
after a hard day.
I deserve a treat.

Everyone will be there—
it will be fun.

What else would I be doing?
You’ll miss out if you don’t go.

Funny how I have to convince myself
it would be a great idea.

“Just one more?”
…is why I shouldn’t go.

I know that.

The taxi is here.

NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:

I wrote this for anyone who’s ever had to talk themselves into what they already knew wasn’t a great idea. You’re not alone.
