Strings of Things

A Poem

by Anne G

Strings of things pull at my heart,

viola, cello, violins.

Silken threads complete the bows,

that stroke their taut and tightened wires.

Paganini, Mozart, Brahms

Beethoven –

Mendelssohn, Schumann, Bach;

fiddlers of a classic stock.

Most of all none can surpass,

the grandest of the instruments;

vibrating, human vocal chords.

Inspired creation –

master’s touch.

Octaves ranging one to six

give wings to notes, that angels sing.
