Lonely Nights

Lonely nights for a wanderer,
With no pain nor pleasure in the heart.
Retired after a hasty Chase
To hold the leprechaun’s gold.
Lonely nights in a vacuum,
With no love, but thoughts alone,
Forbidden me to lie on my pillow,
To listen to one’s own muted heart.
Lonely nights, under the moon,
With no roof, nor food nor women,
Abandoned like a pirate, alone,
With me and me alone to guide.
Lonely nights, what have you taught
With no words nor a framework?
Rebellion, only to be curbed at heart,
Only to pretend to die tomorrow.
