The Bird

The Bird

Its white wings, like baptism water,
flutter over my melancholy head,
casting away the demons of despair, anger
and dread.

Its feathers, like snow plummeting
onto the mountains and evergreen trees,
caress and soothe my trembling skin
with their delicateness.

Its song, like an angel’s voice
reciting Hail Holy Queen
beside my ear while I pray,
brings serenity and enlightenment
from its composed notes into my soul.

The bird called Hope
