I’ve Cut All Ties

you try to force me to speak,
but i have no words
for you
only silence;
everything i’ve had to say i’ve already I’ve Cut All Ties
said—
you won’t listen when i say you’re
not welcome in my gardens
or at my table,
you try to force your way through insisting
we’re friends when i’ve retracted my heart from
your clawing hands;
and you’re a harpy trying to drown a mermaid
but you’ll find i can sing the siren’s song
when push comes to shove i would not provoke me—
i’ve kindly told you before that we’re no longer friends before,
and you refuse to accept it always apologizing but never saying why;
i don’t need someone who refuses to acknowledge
what they’ve done wrong always wounding me with their demands and words—
i am done being your puppet on a string, i’ve cut all ties;
and i won’t ever going back to the cage
of your need.
