Euthanasia
written by: Solomon Joseph
How would I have helped?
The painful nature of existence
Of human suffering
In the house of sufferers
From behind I heard a shout
My life! my life!
Hands raised helplessly
Legs kept dangling in the air
The sad tone of ancestors’ clarion
Ready to claim a soul
Into the depth so dark
Where the soul awaits the second call
I heard a man said in a broken voice
Alas! poor pretty damsel
I wish she had my last kiss
And feel my last touch
By the doorway came a man in white gown
With a dangling stethoscope
And almost in a whisper
I bid her farewell
