A Dark Cloud Lifted

A Dark Cloud Lifted

written by: Glo Curl

Morning’s fickle sun has tricked us both
to this sullen hillside,
down and downed in serendipitous meet

At first she resists, drowsily indignant
of the sacrificial dandelion
teased under her hairy belly

Coyness cancelled she finds her tongue
and clambers aboard, buff tail bobbing
allowing me to airlift her to safety—
a short bee-line from her bungled touchdown
on the boot-worn path

She raids the recovery room and rumbles into life
bound for the sudden brilliance
tumbling down the slope. I unbutton my coat
and step into the light
buzzing

NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:

Bees…where would we be without them? If I find one in trouble, I always do my best to help; watching them recover and continue on their way lifts my mood every time.
