A Silent Cry

A Silent Cry

They greeted me with half-hearted smiles,
Yearning to be aloof,
Concealing myriad woes.

Wrinkles on their faces narrated a poignant tale,
Of helplessness,
Of desolation,
Forsaken by their children,
Compelled to stay in an old age home.

Filled with despair,
Recounting the bygone days,
The forlorn yet hopeful look in their eyes,
Longing to return to their homes.
